Hizbul Islam starts anti-banditry operations

MERCA (Mareeg.com) – Forces loyal to the Islamic administration of Hizbul Islam have Friday started operations against the banditry actions between Bay and Lower Shabelle regions, strongholds of Islamist militias in southern Somalia, witnesses told to Mareeg’s news centre in Mogadishu.





Locals said that the forces of Hizbul Islam started conducting the operations as more people with their vehicles traveling there were robbed on the Street that connects between Bay and Lower Shabelle regions mainly Burhakaba and Wanlaweyn towns in southern Somalia.



Officials said that they would continue such operations cleaning all activities of the thieves in the zones under their control reiterating they will not tolerate bandits to be seen on the street and the other areas in the regions.



Most of the people in Bay and Lower Shabelle regions had welcomed the step of the Islamic organization n of Hizbul Islam for cleaning the thieves who often rob, rape and loot the people traveling between the bother regions in south of the country.



It is not the first time the Islamist fighters conduct such operations in southern Somalia which is mostly controlled by Al-shabab and Hizbul Islam organizations who are fighting against with the African Union troops AMISOM and the transitional government of Somalia.
