Somalia: Government wants to drive the Islamists out of the country

MOGADISHU (Mareeg)—The Somali government soldiers getting help from the African Union troops in Somalia wants to drive the Islamist out of the country, reports say.

The state minister of the Somali government Yusuf Mohamed Siyad says the government is ready to launch full attack against the Islamists to recapture all the territories under their control in the country.



Tension has arisen in some parts of the Somalia capital Mogadishu where the government soldiers and the Islamist rebels are facing each other.

The African Union troops are also preparing to help the government soldiers at the side of the armored vehicles and tanks.

On the other hand, clashes between pro government soldiers and Hizbul Islam fighters took place near Beledweyne town in Hiraan in central Somalia.

The casualties of the clashes are not known yet. Different armed Somali factions are fighting and struggling for to control the town.
