Somalia: Ethiopia to release Somali lawmakers

MOGADISHU (Mareeg)—The second deputy speaker of the Somali parliament, Osman Elmi Boqore, said Saturday Ethiopia agreed to release two Somali lawmakers and a police officer jailed in Jig-Jiga Ethiopia.

The two Somali legislators, Hussein Mohamed Mohamud, Abdullahi Mohamed Farey, and Ahmed Ugas, a Somali police officer were arrested in Ethiopia last month.

The MPs were heading to Hiiraan region in central Somalia when they were arrested by Ethiopian soldiers.

Mr. Boqore said Ethiopia accepted to release the lawmakers and expressed hope that they will soon get their freedom.

It is not known why Ethiopia had jailed the Somali lawmakers, but some reports suggest that they did not inform their travel to the Ethiopian government.

Somalia: Al Shabaab foreign official dies in southern region

MOGADISHU (Mareeg)—A foreign official from Somali militants group al Shabaab has died for gunshot wounds in parts of Lower Shabelle region in southern Somalia, Radio Mogadishu reported on Saturday.

The officials named, Abdiqadir Al Muqraawi was wounded in fighting between government soldiers and al Shabaab in Mogadishu on Friday.


The report says, the foreign official which his country origin is not known, died while he was being taking to Kismayo in Lower Jubba region for medical treatment.


The radio says at least ten foreign officials were wounded in the fighting between the Somali government soldiers and the militants.


Al Shabaab, an al Qaeda proxy in Somalia is trying to overthrow the transitional federal government of Somalia (TFG) led by Islamist president Sheikh Sharif Sheikh Ahmed.

Somalia: More wounded civilians admitted to Mogadishu hospital

MOGADISHU (Mareeg)—At least 58 wounded civilians have been admitted to Medina hospital in Mogadishu for the last 24 hours, witnesses and officials said on Wednesday.

Heavy fighting and artillery fire exchange between government soldiers and Islamist rebels erupted in Mogadishu on Tuesday evening which killed at 10 civilians.

Dunia Ali Mohamed, a health official of Medina hospital said 58 wounded civilians including children have been brought in the hospital for medication for the last 24 hours.

A four year old child was among those who succumbed their wounds in the hospital. Medina hospital is one of the main hospitals in the capital.

Civilians borne the brunt of the fighting that is continuing in the Somali capital Mogadishu.

Hizbul Islam declare war on Al-shabab in southern Somalia

AFMADOW (Mareeg) - The Islamic administration of Hizbul Islam has said that they will continue to fighting with Al-shabab Mujahideen in southern Somalia, official toldsomali Shabelle radio on Sunday

Sheik Ahmed Mohamed Islam better known as (Ahmed Madobe), one of Hizbul Islam officials who contacted with Shabelle radio on Sunday morning said that he was in Afmadow district in Lower Jubba region.


The official also said that they will hunt the officials of Harakat Al-shabab Mujahideen in the Somali capital Mogadishu.


He said that they will redouble their clashes against with Al-shabab Mujahideen fighters in the region adding they will take legal step to anyone seen working with Harakat Al-shabab Mujahideen.


“The fighting between Al-shabab and Hizbul Islam will affect in Mogadishu where both of our fighters stay. The officers of Hizbul Islam will revenge on those in the capital in Mogadishu,” said Ahmed Madobe.



In other side Sheik Ahmed disproved reports from the spokesman of Al-shabab which was that the latest clashes in the region organized by Kenya and ONLF guerillas reiterating that there was no relation between Kenya and ONLF.


He said that the fighters of at Al-shabab had slaughtered a businessman that is not somali and islamic way and a former member of Raskanboni Muaskar, a Islamist government led by former deputy leader of Hisbul Islam Sheik Hassan Turkey who recently joined Al-shabab in south of the country. He said he was killed at Dif village in the region recently.


Lastly, Sheik Ahmed Mohamed Islam (Madobe) talked the joining of Sheik Hassan Turkey to Harakat Al-shabab Mujahideen saying that he was a person and will not affect Hizbul Islam and Raskanboni group. source shabelle
