GALKAYO (Mareeg)—The commander of Puntland police in Mudug region in central Somalia said Sunday he escaped assassination attempt.
The commander, Muse Ahmed Abdirahman, says people in Galkayo have informed to the police a roadside bomb that was seen in Garsoor Neighborhood in Galkayo intended to kill him.
He thanked the people for their cooperation to the police and called on them to continue working with police the keep the security of the town.
Puntland government accused al Shabaab militants of being behind the insecurity and the explosions that occur these days in Puntland towns.
Al Shabaab is fighting against the Somali fragile government and controls large areas in southern Somalia.
Mr.Muse added that they were making investigations and would soon arrest the perpetrators of insecurity in the town.
