MOGADISHU (Mareeg.com) – at least 3 people were killed and 5 others wounded in heavy fighting between Al-shabab forces and military soldiers of the transitional government of Somalia, witnesses said on Friday
Witnesses said that the fighting flared up as the Islamist fighters of Al-shabab had attacked the military positions of the transitional government military forces in parts of Derkenley district in south of Mogadishu adding that a civilian died while several others wounded as the fighting continued there.
“We could hear the sound of heavy gunfire and bullets. We were worried about the heavy shelling that could be heard all out neighborhoods in Derkenly. I saw one died person and two others wounded. Now the shelling is going on yet,” said one witnesses in the areas
Yusuf kabala, the deputy commissioner of the transitional government of Somalia for Derkenly district had claimed victory over the fighting between the military forces of the government and Al-shabab forces saying that they had killed more fighters in the fighting.
There is no comment about the fighting from the officials of Al-shabab so far and the situation of the fighting seems calm.
